NEW BOMBING DEVICE
AUTOMATIC DISCHARGE PRECISION - IN ATTACK (9 a.m.) LONDON. Jan. 2. Master Sergeant Osinski, chief armourer at an American base in Britain, lias invented a device which tires salvoes oi bombs with very high precision. The mechanism is allelectric. It releases the bombs automatically when the bomb-sight’s locussing hairs are aligned with the target, thus eliminating the bomber’s use of hand levers, obviating jamming, which is oit.cn caused by hung bombs. The device is also much safer than hand levers when heavy bombers are supporting ground troops. Reports from a group headquarters, whicn have reached Washington, show that when a bomb group adopted Sergeant Osinski’s device, it climbed to first place for accuracy. Thereafter, the commander ordered ait aircraft to adopt the device.
