SWEDISH SHIP SUNK

19 PERSONS PERISH (9 a.m.) STOCKHOLM, Jan. 1. The Swedish cargo and passenger ship Venersborg, of 1500 tons, was sunk off the south-east coast of Sweden, it is believed, by a mine or torpedo while proceeding to Denmark. Only one person of the 20 aboard was rescued. This is the second Swedish ship to be sunk in the Baltic since the Germans declared it a zone of war operations.
