AMUSEMENTS

King’s.—“ Uncensored,” which stars Eric Portman and Phyllis Calvert and is screening at the King’s to-day, is a war-time romantic melodrama, set in occupied Belgium, describing the hectic adventures of a band, of patriots who revive La Libre Belgique, fearless pirate national paper of the last war, under the very noses of the Gestapo, and maintain a steady but by no means stealthy circulation. The associate feature, “Bermuda Mystery,” is a thrilling drama. Regent.—.“ The War Against Mrs. Hadley,” the present attraction at the Regent, is the story, simply but convincingly told, of a woman who cannot believe that she is required to play a part in the war effort and regards the imo act of war conditions on herself and her family as something personal when it should be the concern of others. Fay Bainter’s performance in the title role stamps her as mistress of her art, and Edward Arnold has one of the best parts of his screen career, as has also Richard Ney. Majestic.—To-day’s attraction, “Miss V. From Moscow, is an exciting story of a beautiful Russian spy who matches wits with the Gestapo in occupied France. The leading players are Lola Lane and Noel Maddison. The associate feature, “Man of Courage.” ia a thrilling drama starring- Barton MacLanc and Charlotte Wyntcrs. Chapter 4of “Great Northern Mystery” also will be shown. Borovansky Ballet.—To-morrow night the Borovansky Ballet openß at the Opera House, and though the season must necessarily be a brief one the programmes have been selected with a view to presenting a wealth of variety. The mood of the ballet, and that of the audience, who is carried along with it, moves through the sylvan glades of. “Les Sylphides” to the fun and frolic of “Facade” with its delightful miming against a clever and amusing decor. A different note ia struck in the one-act ballet “Sigrid’' when Martin Rubinstein gives one of his most impressive portrayals as the guardian of Sigrid’s ghost keeping at a distance the village maidens who fain would dance with the lovely shade. “Los Sylphides,” “Facade,” “Sigrid” and “Fantasy on Grieg’s Concerto in A Minor” will be presented on to-mor-row night’s programme.
