SUNDERLAND REPAIRED (PA) AUCKLAND,’Dec. 5. The Sunderland living-boat which was involved in a collision with ta R..N.Z.A.F. machine orr Whangarei on Saturday afternoon and subsequently was towed to Whangarei for repairs, reached Auckland this morning, a new propeller having been fitted yesterday. , In an interview, the captain of the boat, Flight Lieutenant J. S. Shephard, Dunedin, said the mishap had proved just about the best possible advertisement for a British flyingboat. When the Sunderland came, down there was a heavy sea running, the chop being at least Bft. Despite this condition, and the fact that seas continually broke over the boat, she suffered no damage and did not take in n drop of water. . Flight Lieutenant Shephard paid a tribute to the Auckland fishermen who picked up the flying-boat and towed her to safety.
