PURCHASES IN U.S.A.
LARGE RAILWAY ORDER (10 a.m.) NEW YORK. Dec. 5. France has obtained the United States Government’s approval for the immediate purchase of 700 locomotives, costing 800.000.000 dollars, as part of its rehabilitation programme, reports the New York HeraldTribune’s Washington correspondent. This is the first large-scale purchase by a European nation of American non-war goods, of which Britain. Russia, and other Allies plan to buy at least 5,000,000.000 dollars' worth.
