No more entertainments are to be allowed in prisoner-of-war camps in Germany. “The musical comedy we have just finished writing for Christmas has been banned,’ ’ wrote a British prisoner from Slalag Vll. Hitherto concerts and variety entertainments have been a regular feature of prison-camp life, but the Daily Mail says that Himmler’s new austerity rules, forming part of the total-war drive imposed on the Germans, .has Deen extended to British prisoners of war.
Xh,e Red Cross has received information from other camps that entertainments have been banned. The protecting Power, Switzerland, is investigating the ban which .lie prisoners of one of their few pleasures.
