RANGE OF TARGETS EUROPE-WIDE RAIDING ENEMY’S STRONGHOLDS LONDON, Dec. 4. At many points in Germany’s chain of defences and communications throughout the shrinking Nazi empire in Europe, the weight of Allied air power fell heavily during the past 24 hours. On Sunday night R.A.F. Mosquitoes attacked, without loss, objectives in Western Germany. A fighter reported missing from Saturday’s escort to tiie bombers on the Hansa benz.ol plant, landed away from its base and is sale.
Rail-yards and industrial objectives in Austria were attacked on Sunday by escorted heavy bombers of the Strategic Air Force, states a Mediterranean Allied Headquarters communique. Other heavy bombers carried out attacks on road bridges and. communications in Yugoslavia. Fighters and fighter-bombers of the Tactical Air Force attacked communications in the Po Valley, and enemy positions in the battle area. Medium bombers attacked railbridges in Northern Italy and Yugoslavia, while coastal aircraft attacked small shipping in tiie North Adriatic Sea, as well as road and rail traffic in the French and Italian Rivieras. The Balkan Air Force attacked road movement, enemy gun-positions, and a power-house in Yugoslavia. Seven of our aircraft are missing from these operations. Allied aircraft flew over 1100 sorties.
