PALESTINE’S DESTINY
Sir,- The formation of the Palestine League l as announced by Lord Strabolgi is of more than passing interest when one reads tile following quotation taken from Dr. Thomas’ book "Israel Elpis,” pane 441, and published in ISIS (note date) and always remembering that the Turks had ruled over Palestine for many centuries until HII7 and Britain did not receive her mandate of the land till 1824: "The prc-adventual colonisation of Palestine will he on purely political principles. They (the Jews) will emigrate thither as agriculturalists and traders in the hope of ultimately establishing their commonwealth under tin l efficient protection of the British power. I know not whether the men who at present control the foreign policy of Britain entertain the idea of assuming the sovereignty of the Holy Land and of promoting its colonisation by the Jews. Their present intentions, however, are of no importance one way or another because they will he compelled by events soon to happen to do what, in existing ctrenmstances. Heaven and earth combined could not move them to attempt." The doctor continues: "The finger of Clod has indicated a course to he pursued by Britain that cannot lie evaded and which her counsellors will not only he willing? but eager to adopt when the crisis comes up.on them.” It is surprising that our spiritual leaders still continue to close their eyes to Britain’s destiny in the colonisation of Palestine as set out in Holy Writ.—E. A. GILMORE.
