LEND-LEASE EXPANSION ASSISTANCE FOR BRITAIN NEW YORK, Dec. 3. Lend-lease will be expanded to assist the British lo restore sound enconomy as soon as the shape of the war permits, says the New York Times. An executive agreement to this end has been reached. This will need Congressional confirmation, but such approval is expected. Some changes in lire detailed operation of lencl-lcn.sc will be made at the end of the year, but Ihe major part will be inoperative until the present Lend-lease Act expires on June 30, 1945, and Congress will continue it for a year. The United States will gear its re-conversion rate to Britain’s so that the exporter:-, in neither country will have an undue advantage in the race to regain old markets and get new ones.
