FIRED AT DETECTIVE

(P.A.) WELLINGTON. Nov. 2. A verdict of guilty with a strong recommendation to mercy on account of his mental condition at the time of the occurrence and his youth, was returned by the jury after a retirement of 75 minutes yesterday in the case of Henry Kenny Thomas Carr, aged 18. labourer, who appeared before Mr. Justice Johnston in the Supreme Court charged that with intent to do grievous bodily harm, he discharged a loaded firearm at Detective W. C. Havo§r on April 22.
