Music Examinations Postponed

The annual practical music examinations conducted throughout Now Zealand by the Associated Board ol the Royal' Schools of Music will be held this year in the South Island only. The North Island' will be covered early next year. The reason for the delay is accounted for by the fact that the examiner. M r - Forbes Milne, arrived in New Zealand from England in October instead of the proposed date in July. This meant three months’ delay, and as 'in similar circumstances last year the North Island was visited first, it was deemed only fair to allow pupils in the South Island the privilege this year. The North Island, ordinarily, would have been covered last month and this month. The date of the examiner's visit to Gisborne next year has not yet been fixed. Mr. Milne was bom "in 1883 and was educated at the Ancient Grammar School and at King’s College. Aberdeen University. He studied with Mr. Claude Pollard and Dr. Pearce and Dr. C. H. Kitson. Ho is a member of The Royal Philharmonic Society. He has been examiner of music for several university hoards in England, and was until lately director of music at Bcrkliamstead School. He has written extensively on subjects connected with the teaching of music in various journals, and has written operas and several volumes on music.
