Archdeacon J. D. Russell has retiled after 33 years’ service as vicar 01 Luke’s Parish, Oamaru. He was honoured recently at gatherings parishioners and the public. Flight Sergeant Roy Harries, son of Mr. and Mrs. Cecil A. Harries, Waitangi street, who is acting an instructor in the R.N.Z.A.F has received his commission in the ramc oi pilot officer. . .. The chairman of directors of the New Zealand Shipping Company. Limited, London, has cabled confirming the appointment of Mr A. T. Sinel as general manager in New Zealand for the company. The following appointments have also been made. Head office: Lieut.-Colonel F. W. Spite, traffic manager for New Zealand: Mr F. W. G. Hoddinott, chief accountant: Mr C. W. chief clerk. Wellington branch: Mr W. Tweedie, local manager; Mr C. R. Riordan, local accountant. Lieut.Colonel Spite will take up his duties when released from military service. Mr Sinei joined the New. Zealand Shipping Company as a junior at Auckland in 1897.
