THE KING'S QUESTION
STUMPED BRAINS TRUST . (Special Correspondent.) (9 a.m.) LONDON, April 20. How the Royal Family once stumped the Brains Trust is told by Mr. Howard Thomas, the 8.8.C.’s former producer, in his book, “Britain’s Rrains Trust.” He says: “Listeners will remember . a session in June, 1942. when we read out a question handed to a steward on anything but a luxurious liner by. two first-class passengers. I did not rc- ' veal the fact that this question came from the Royal Family, who were regular listeners to the programme. The News-Chronicle states that the question was handed by the King and Queen to a steward aboard the cruiser Phoebe during their visit to Ulster in June, 1942. It was “Why do they call the Italians wops?”
