TERRIFIC FIGHTERS”
CANADIANS IN SICILY MONTGOMERY’S PRAISE LONDON, July 16. "The Canadians were terrific on the beaches of Sicily and also in the attack inland,” said General Montgomery, in an interview with a Canadian war correspondent, Mr. Ross Munro. “I am glad to have the Canadians here. I know that they are sorry that there is not much real fighting because the Italians are running so fast, but they will get a bellyful before they are finished.’’ General Montgomery expressed satisfaction at the progress of operations. Asked for an estimate of the length of the campaign, he said: “Maybe six months; maybe two weeks.”
