Bur. ami Car Collide A collision between a Gisborne Borough Council bits and a private motor car occurred at 2,20 p.m. on Saturday at the -intersection of Ormond road and Wi Pore street. The bus was driven bv Mr Bernard George Gibson, and the car by Mr. Craven Izod.

Sullivan. M.P., when addressing the Whakatane Chamber of Commerce. "In New Zealand’ there are but 15 to the square mile: in Australia only 2: and in Canada only 3. In Great Britain by way of comparison there are 408 to the square mile and in the Irish Free State 112! You can see therefore that there is need for us to double and treble our population in the near future—preferably with our own stock, but if not, then with the best British stock from other countries.
The Home Garden 'in'ttie course of her lecture on the home garden at the recent Health De‘partment - demonstration in the City Hail. Miss Cocks Johnston commented favourably upon the productive nature of the Gisborne district. Her opinion, she ; said, was based upon the splendid exhibits both Of fruit and vegetables, which would be difficult to excel elsewhere. She was delighted with what she had seen of the gardens around Gisborne, which had a wonderful climate. In the interests of public health she urged that more effort should be put into the home garden and the raising of tiro best types of fruit and vegetables, especially for' the rising generation.

The council decided to write to the Department of Agricuture requesting action in the clearing of noxious weeds in the Toiaga Bay township.
