CHILDREN’S STRIKE
SCHOOL FOR BENNYDAL.F. An assurance has been given by Mr. W. I. Bowyer, a member of the Auckland Education Board, and the board’s architect, that the erection of a new three-roomed school with high school facilities and a dental clinic attached will be commenced at Bcnnydale, where the CO schoolchildren have been on strike under their parents’ instructions. The improvements to the Mangnpehi School have been commenced, and the parents of the pupils who have been on strike have agreed thal their children will return to school when the improvements have been effected. In the meantime the older children are occupied with lessons set by the headmaster. The improvements to be carried out at the school include the draining and metalling of the playground, the installation of a new boiler and extension of the central-heating system. The fireplace is to be enlarged at the hall and a larger window is to be installed.
