I/C D.E.S.C. 895 COOK COUNTY COUNCIL NOTICE OF INTENTION TO MAKE A GENERAL RATE PURSUANT to Section 120 of “The Counties Act, 1920,” and Seetion 2 of "The Counties Amendment Act, 1931,” and Sections 51/59 of “The Rating Act, 1925,” and amendments thereto NOTICE is hereby given that the Cook County Council will, at a Meeting to be Held on Wednesday, 21st July 1943, in the Council Chambers, Childers Road, Gisborne, N.Z., make and levy a General Rate of 5a (live pence) in the £1 over the whole of the rateable properties in the County of Cook on the Unimproved rateable value of the County, This rate is to cover administration: Interest and other charges on Loans over the whole County; Hospital Levy; General maintenance of Roads ana Bridges; the Council’s proportion of cost of Subsidised Works. On the same date and at the same place the Council, in terms of Section 123 of “The Counties Act, 1920,” will make,and levy a Sanitation Rate by way of a Uniform Charge of £2/12/per annum upon such properties as have dwellings thereon, within the Whataupoko, Kaiti and Wainui Areas of the County. On the same date and at the same place the Council will, in terms of Section 167 subsection (2) of "The Counties Act, 1920,” make and levy a Drainage Rate of -J of Id in the £1 over the properties in the Maraetaha and Te Kuri Drainage District, and a Drainage Rate of -g of Id, in the £1 over the properties in the Homebush Drainage District; further rates on the classified basis equivalent to 3 of Id. in the £1 on the Capital Value of the properties in the Taurau Valley Special Drainage District; and the Lavenham Special Drainage District. Each of the above mentioned rates is for the period commencing on the Ist day of April, 1943, and ending on the 31st day of March, 1944. and is due and payable at the Office of the County on the 31st day of July, 1943. Annual recurring Special Rates will also appear on the Rate Demands. A rebate of 33 percentum will be allowed on all General Rates for the year 1943/44 paid and received in the Office of the County within 30 days of the date of the Demand. 10% additional rate will be added to all rates for the year 1943/44 which are outstanding and unpaid after the expiration of 6 months and 14 days from the date of the demand. The Valuation Rolls and Rate Book of the County have been prepared and are open for inspection, without fee, by all Ratepayers, during ordinary Office hours.
