Mr. A. T. Pavkos. district traffic manager, and Mr. IT. L. P. Smith, district engineer, New • Zealand Railways. Wellington, who have been on a visit to Gisborne, left for the south this morning.
The Auckland Hospital. Board has appointed Mr. Douglas William Guthrie, M. 8., Ch.B. (N.Z.), F.R.C.S. (Eng.), as acting-medical superintendent of the Green Lane Hospital for the duration of the war, at a salary of .£IOOO a year, plus a living-out allowance of £156. He will be in charge of surgical work at the hospital and will perform surgical operations. Senior surgical officer at the Auckland Hospital for the past four years. Mr! Guthrie was previously resident medical officer for two years, before he went overseas to obtain further experience.
