CLASHES IN GREECE
ITALIANS SEIZE CROPS RESISTANCE BY PEASANTS (9 a.m.) WASHINGTON, Oct. 4. The seizure of Greek peasants crops by Italian carabinieri have caused bloody clashes between the peasants and Italian troops, according to the Greek Office of Information. Tobacco growers burned their crops and farmers in the Peloponnese division threw currants and raisin crops into the sea rather than hand, them over .to the Italians. In reprisal the Italians seized numerous hostages and confiscated their property. Greek guerrillas entered the struggle, freeing a number of hostages. • ... The clashes are still continuing in many parts of Greece.
