MAN FOUND ON ROAD
EVIDENCE AT INQUEST An inquest into the death of William Andrews, aged 72, was held in Gisborne to-day before the coroner, Mr. E. L. Walton, S.M., whose verdict was that death was the result of massive cerebral haemorrhage caused by high blood pressure. Evidence of identification was submitted by W. R. Bright. Charles E. Parsons, barman-porter at the Albion Club Hotel, said that at 7.15 a.m. yesterday he saw the deceased lying in Read’s quay opposite the back entrance to.the hotel. His bicycle was beside him and had not been damaged. The witness said he saw no signs of violence or accident. Evidence regarding the deceased s condition when he was admitted to the Cook Hospital shortly after 8 a.m. was given by Dr. A. G. Rutter, who said that the man was unconscious and breathing noisily. Apart from small abrasions on the right knee and elbow, there were rio signs of violence. Within an hour of his admission he died without regaining consciousness. Sergeant A. C. Davis represented the police at the inquest.
