OBITUARY

The death occurred suddenly in Napier of Mr. Walter Herbert Beck, a well-known chemist. A son of the late Mr. William Beck, Methodist minister, he was born in Nelson 58 years ago. Going to Napier with his wife and family nearly 30 years ago, he took over a chemist’s business. He leaves his wife, a son, Mr. Allan Beck, of Devonport, and two sisters. The death has occurred in New Plymouth of Mr. James Matthew O’Reilly, who had been collector of customs at New Plymouth for the past 18 years. Mr. O’Reilly, who was born at Whitianga, had been in the Public Service for 44 years and served in the Customs Department at Wellington, Dunedin, Auckland and Gisborne, and was for several years ih Rarotonga. Be is survived by his wife and five children.
