In a statement on the earthquake damage emergency, regulations, .dated August 10 which appeared in the Gazette last I 'night, the' Minister of Public Works, the Hon. H. T. Armstrong, said the- regulations were " the outcome l of representations made'!to the Government by the "local'Authorities of I '-‘the r are 4 \Vhich . sustained heavy damage in the _recent-'S"eries of earthquakes and wei"e' ; ”mtende’d to operate temporarily until permanent legislation could be enacted. - ;
