LOST AT SEA

WIFE OF COLONEL DUFF OFFICER IN W.A.A.F. Advice has been received by cSI C. J. Dull, K.N.Z.A cm mander of artillery in one of the New Zealand home delence divisions, tha his wife, Section Officer Florence Duff, W.A.A.F., has been lost at sea as the result of enemy action. Section Officer Duff accompanied her husband to India in 1937, and went With him to England in January, 193 J. bhe joined the Womens Auxiliaiy Ail Force there is May, 1939. On September 4, 1939, she was mobilised as a cook, obtained her commission as a cipher officer in 1940, and before leaving Britain was messing officer for all ranks on a large Royal Air Force station. She was retuining to New Zealand to take up simitar duties with the women's forces in tlie Dominion and to join her husband, who recently returned froni active service with the New Zealand Division in the Middle East. Section Officer Duff was the second daughter of the late Hon. W. »V. Snodgrass, M.L.C., She was educated at Nelson Girls’ College.
