AMERICAN AIR FORCE CLARK GABLE’S DESIRE (9.30 a.m.) LOS ANGELES, Aug. 12. The Army Department announced that Clark Gable, the film actor, would be sworn in to-day as a private in the air force. He had requested an assignment as an aerial gunner. He said he did not want to sell war bonds or pour pink tea. He wanted to be sent where the going was tough. The film star, Jimmy Stewart is now piloting a twin-engined bomber in the United States Army Air Force.
