A.T.S. POLICE WING

NEW BRANCH OF SERVICE LONDON, May 1. A new branch of the Auxiliary Territorial Service in England, the Provost Wing, comprising military policewomen, is proving so successful that it is to be enlarged. Formed six months ago. much of the work of the Provost Wing is of a welfare nature and involves a considerable amount of training. Common sense is a main asset, and, although a university degree is not necessary the ability to write clear and concise reports is required. Sympathy and understanding of other women are also essential. The generally high standard of the A.T.S. has increased since the introduction of these women police, who have adapted themselves so readily to their new role, and are recognised as the service’s officially appointed friends and guides.
