Squadron Leader Arthur Ashworth, who has been awarded the D. 5.0., was born in Gisborne in 1920, and Ashworth, lives at Alexandra. He High School. His mother, Mrs. E. M. Ashworth, lives at Alexandria. He was employed in the aerodrome service of the Public Works Department before his selection for a short-service commission. He received his early training in Wellington t immediately after the outbreak of war. As a pilot officer, he was awarded the D.F.C. for carrying out an attack on the Scharnhorst at Brest in June last year.
