DRIVE FOR £500,000 DISTRICT QUOTA FIGURES (P.A.) WELLINGTON, this day. The second phase of the national drive to raise the second £500,000 ot the £1,000,000 required for patriotic purposes during the current year began to-day. The ariiounts collected by the 11 provincial patriotic councils this year to 7 o’clock last night are as follows, with the percentage of the quota the amount represents in each instance: Hawke’s Bay, £52,000, 77.5; Otago, £IOO,OOO, 70.0; West Coast, £9300, 00.4; Nelson. £22.454, 02.4; Southland, £38,000, 62.2; Marlborough, £BOOO, 53.3; Wellington, £97.277, 45.2; East Coast, £11,480, 43.9: Taranaki, £33,700, 33.7; Canterbury, £70,235, 28.1; Auckland, £136,000, 27.2. The main feature of the campaign is the sale of comforts coupons. Purchasers may subscribe any amount they wish for general purposes, or specific sums ranging from 2s 6d for 50 cigarettes to £SOO for a recreation hut.
