N.Z.E.F. APPRECIATION
PATRIOTIC GIFTS GEN. FREYBERG’S CABLE (P.A.) WELLINGTON, this day. The service that it has been possible to give to the New Zealand forces from the patriotic funds subscribed by the people of the Dominion is eulogised by Major-General Sir Bernard Freyberg in a cablegram to the National Patriotic Fund Board received from him yesterday. The text of the message is; “I Would like the people of New Zealand ,to know how much the national patriotic fund is appreciated at a time like this. The Y.M.C.A., Church Army and Red Cross are doing great work in distributing patriotic fund cigarettes, tobacco, writing materials, chocolate, parcels, etc., to the men in the forward areas and to the wounded in the hospitals. May I, on behalf of the N.Z.E.F. overseas, once again thank the people of New Zealand for their gift parcels and generosity in subscribing to the patriotic funds.”
