NAZI EDITION OF PRAVDA
LONDON, Aug. 2. The Germans at Kiev, capital of the Ukraine, are publishing full editions of a replica of the Moscow newspaper Pravda, says the Daily Mirror. Kiev, capital of the Ukraine, has been in German hands since September 21, 1941. It is impossible, without seeing both, to distinguish between genuine and fake copies of Pravda. The Nazi editions give reports indicating that Moscow and Leningrad are occupied by the Germans. They contain glowing accounts of the happiness of the Russians in “their new way of life.” Inevitably a large portion of the population of Kiev has been misled by this trick. Another trick of the Germans is to broadcast from travelling vans speeches made years ago in opposition to Stalin by Trotsky and other members of the Fourth International. This creates an impression that there is no longer unity in the Soviet Union.
