He quoted an instance of pears selling at 19s a case, foi which the producer received 3s for raising, packing, and delivering the fruit. The fruit growers present resolved: “That this meeting of fruit growers brings to the notice of the Government the lamentably inadequate price being paid for apples and pears under the marketing scheme, and that' a considerable increase should be made to obviate any serious curtailment and the cutting-out of orchards.’’
