HIGHER PAY SOUGHT
U.S. STEEL WORKERS TALKS BROKEN OFF (10.30 a.m.) PITTSBURGH, Aug 11. Mr. Phillip Murray, president of the Congress of Industrial Organisations, announced that negotiations between the United Steelworkers Union and five United States steel corporations have been broken oil and the case referred to the War Labour Board.
Mr. Murray said the corporations statement stated that it was impossible to agree to all provisions of the so-called “little steel” directives, involving ’ increased pay of 44 cents daily minimum, a daily guarantee ol union security and check off.
