WAIROA HOCKEY

Only one game of hockey was played on hr- North Clyde ground, Wairoa, on Satuilay, between Swift's nnd Orangi women, these two teams were level in the competition and a good game had been expected. However, a disappointing display was given by Swift’s who, through lack of players, and .hrough players being out of their original positions, were no match for their more experienced and seasoned opponents. Orangi made the most of their opportunities and, with fast play, and good combination, ran out the winners by 6 to 0. A men's representative team travelled to Napier in an unsuccessful attempt to win the Manurere Shield and, although Wairoa put up a good fight in a fast, hard game, Napier withstood the challenge, winning by 6 to 3.
