DEFERMENT OF SERVICE (9 a.m.) ’ OTTAWA, July 14. Newspapermen have been listed under section 15 of the national war ser. vices regulations. This section provides that the Minister may furnish the selective service boards with lists deemed to be essential for war. An employer engaged in any activity sc listed is termed a war industry. However. the listing does not mean automatic service deferment. Each case is considered on its merits. II merely gives the board special deferment power.
