CHURCHILL AUCTIONS
GISBORNE ORGANISATION OLD BOOKS AND PRINTS An organisation is being’ set up in Gisborne for the purpose of co-operat--1 ing in the Churchill auctions throughout the Dominion, and Mr. Douglas G. Dyer has been appointed convener of the local committee. The cornerstone of the organisation is the auctioning of the Churchill book by central radio, but all other offerings will be made by separate districts, and all proceeds are to be given to patriotic funds. The organisation is under the authority of the National Patriotic Fund Board. Old books, manuscripts and prints are required for the auctions, and donations of such articles are being invited from persons who have them in their possession. It is known that many Gisborne people have articles of historic value in their possession, and ;t is proposed to make contact with these people for the purpose of inducing them to surrender some of them so that the patriotic funds will benefit. The Gisborne organisation has not proceeded far yet. but the convener anticipates gathering a body of workers together at an early date for the purpose of getting down to business.
