HOUSE OF COMMONS CHEERS FOR CHURCHILL (2 p.m .) LONDON, July 2. The announcement in the House of Commons that the no - confidence motion had been defeated by 475 votes to 25 resulted in loud cheering, members throwing order papers in the air. Members on all sides cheered the Prime Minister, Mr. WihstOn Churchill as he went out. Mr. Churchill, smiling, glanced back and raised two fingers in the victory Sign.
