MEN’S BASKETBALL

SCHOOL’S GOOD WIN Another series of matches was played in the American basketball league competition at the Y.M.C.A. last night. The general handling and positional play showed an improvement, while the pace of the games impressed the onlookers. Air Training Corps No. 3 and High School opened their game in a patchy manner, which was conspicuous by too much crowding. This was more noticeable in the High School team, which fielded several new players. The second half indicated a great improvement with both sides playing hard. High School thoroughly deserved their win by 12 —9 as the Air Cadets were well ahead in the first half. R. Smaill was always prominent for School, while A. Taylor played a good all-round game for Air Training Corps. In tile second game, Air Training Corps No. 1 defeated Air Training Corps No. 2 by 1 j—2, but the match was by no means onesided. The No. 2 team were unfortunate in not scoring on several occasions. A. Taylor and G. Langridge were conspicuous with their sound play for the No. 1 team, and S. Wills and C. Marshall were a tower of strength for No. 2. The points gained by each team to date are: —Air Training Corps No. 1. played 4, won 3, lost 1, drawn 0, points 6; Home Guard, 3,2, 1,0, 4; High School, 1,1, 0,0, 2, Air Training Corps No. 2,2, 1,1, 0. 2; Air Training Corps No. 3,3, 1,2, 0,2; Y.M.C.A., 3,0, 3,0, 0.
