THIRD IN WEEK
BREMEN AGAIN RAIDED MANY FIGHTER SWEEPS (11 a.m.) LONDON, June 30 A strong force of bombers was over north-west Germany* last night. The main objective, for the third night in a week, was Bremen, which was heavily bombed. Attacks were also made on airfields in occupied territory, railway targets in occupied France, and enemy shipping off the French coast. Nine bombers are missing. Fighter Command aircraft sank an E-boat off the Normandy coast. The Rouen to Paris railway was attacked by a New Zealand pilot and sergeant pilot in the same squadron. Five goods trains were damaged. Boston bombers, escorted by many squadrons of fighters, attacked the railway yards at Hazebrouck yesterday afternoon. German fighters were encountered on the way back and three of them were destroyed, Five of our fighters are missing. There was little enemy activity' over Malta yesterday. Only a few fighters crossed the coast. There was some damage to civilian property and a few casualties. The achievement of a Canadian pilot who destroyed two enemy bombers on one night for the sec> nd time in four days was a feature of Sunday night’s raid, when a few raiders dropped bombs rear b>e aerodrome. British night fighters chased the raiders away, bringing d( wn three of them.
