Permission to erect a motor shed near her home on Kaiti Beach was granted by the Gisborne Borough Council last night to Mrs. M. G. Sellman, the period to be for one year. Damage to Shed A shed at Mr. G. W. Aitken’s concrete works, Carnarvon street, was extensively damaged by fire on Monday evening, when the Gisborne Fire Brigade answered a call at 6.45 o’clock. The contents of the shed comprised mainly concrete slabs, and apart from that to the shed itself damage was slight. The brigade had the fire quickly under control, and was able to return to the station about, 20 minutes after turning out. Efforts to Release Bishop Efforts being made to secure the release of the Bishop of Waiapu, the Rt. Rev. G. V. Gerard, who is a prisoner of war, were mentioned by the Bishop of Auckland, the Rt. Rev. W. J. Simkin, formerly vicar of Wairoa, at a welcome extended to him in Wairoa. His Lordship said that the very warmest thanks were due to the Roman Catholic Apostolic Delegate of Australia, who Was doing all in his power so that Bishop Gerard could continue his work.
