HARASSING RAID
JAPANESE BASES NEW GUINEA BOMBED PROLONGED ATTACK (By Telegraph—Press Asian.— Copyright.) (Special Australian Correspondent.) (10.30 a.m.) SYDNEY. June 29. A prolonged raid, which is understood to have lasted for several hours, was made by Allied aircraft against the Japanese advance bases in New Guinea, at Lae and Salamaua. on Sunday night. This was the third successive night attack on ■Lae. Allied headquarters, in .the latest communique, describes .the attack as a “harassing raid against enemy troop dispositions.” The communique also reports a limited bombing attack on the wharf area at Tulagi. in .the Solomons. All the bombers returned safely from these operations. There is no mention in the communique of any other air activity.
