The press attache at the Japanese Embassy in London, Mr. Mitsui, said that all members of the embassy were shocked when they heard the news of the Japanese attack on British and American possessions. Communication with Tokio was cut off yesterday. No arrangements have yet been made for the exchange of British and Japanese residents. Many Japanese have been given temporary accommodation at the embassy. The Home Office announced that all Japanese nationals over 16 years of age in the United Kingdom were required to report to the police. It is reported from Bombay that the police rounded up male Japanese throughout India. At least 60 were taken into custody in Bombay alone. About 40 Japanese firms have beer, taken over by the controller. No action is contemplated at present against Japanese women. President Roosevelt has authorised the arrest of Japanese nationals in the United States regarded as dangerous to the security of the nation. About 1000 Japanese aliens will be affected.

In a broadcast from Manila it was reported that native Japanese seized control of some communities where they are thickly concentrated, but in other sections the Filipino police rounded up the Japanese, taking them into concentration camps.
