WELLINGTON WOOL VALUES UP TO LAST YEAR FIRST APPRAISMENT (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. Prices realised at the first wool appraisement of the 1041-42 season in Wellington, which was completed yesterday were, according to a report issued by the Wellington Woolbrokers' Association, very satisfactory and, quality and style taken into account, equivalent to last year’s realisations. A total of 20,095 bales were submitted for appraisement. With the broken weather experienced recently and with the serious shortage of labour in the country, it was surprising that such a large quanity of wool was available for this appraisement, states the report. The fleece- portion of the clip over all was well grown and sound and light in condition and, consequently, the bulk of the wools were a little stronger in quality than last year, and this, in most cases, will account for any variation in prices realised against last season. The bulk of the bellies and pieces offered were stained and, in many cases, very heavy with mud. As a result, the prices realised for these were lower than those paid last season. As indicated by the brokers before the start of the season wools that had not been thoroughly skirted were valued on a lower basis than last year. The absolute necessity of growers paying every attention to get-up of their clips is again stressed. They can then be assured that, as a result, they will receive full compensation and will be amply rewarded for the extra work entailed. AUSTRALIAN EXCHANGES SYDNEY, Dec. 1.
