A Ministerial Blitz

Sir.—The invasion of the Bay of Plenty electorate which began a few days ago with the visits of the Hon. D. G. Sullivan, the Hon. A. H. Nordmeyer and the Hon. H. G. R. iMason is to be continued during the next few days by the Rt. Hon. P. Fraser, the Hon. W. Nash, the Hon. J. G. Barclay, Mrs. M. Dreaver, M.P., and Mr. E.L. Cullen, M.P., and Mr. Mills already has the full-time assistance of Mr. D. W. Coleman, M.P. The numerically formidable Labour attack offends against the British sporting spirit; it is too much of an adoption of German methods to be to our liking. Meanwhile, and. all power to him. Mr. W. Sullivan carries on his campaign single-handed. XYZ.

Sir,—Mr. D. W. Coleman, M.P.. has now relrealcd to a new position. Admitting that the New Zealand Air Force did, after all, have some aeroplanes in 1935, he now tries to justify himself by saying that they were useless for their purpose. This to my mind is mere presumption on Mr. Coleman’s part. The foundations of our Air Force, as we know it to-day. were laid in the planes of that period, and by the men who flew in them. It is no compliment to the latter to suggest that they were merely carrying on an empty farce. May I add, however, that I am flattered by the attention Mr. Coleman ; has given to my remarks. AILERON.
