GISBORNE CRICKET CENTURY BY R. PARRY Before play was stopped by rain, a few batsmen in the Poverty Bay Cricket Association's Senior A Grade competition on Saturday flogged the bowling;, but rain came 100 soon for n decisive stage to be reached in any of the games. The outstanding performance of the day was R. Parry’s century for City, this being the second Senior A Grade century of the season. Parry knocked up 123 before he retired, including 15 fours and two sixes. He was associated during the greater part of the time with Jim Barbour, whose 6f included nine fours. These two added 119 for the second wicket partnership. City declared at 3.25 p.m. with five wickets down for 240, including only three extras, but play was stopped by rain at 4.15 p.m. after G. had scored 3 4 without loss. In the other Senior A Grade game the opening partnership between E. Bridge and A. Bignall for Old Boys-Civil Service produced 78 before Bridge succumbed after a bright 61, which included eight fours and two sixes. Few of the other batsmen contributed much to the total, the extras, 18, being almost the biggest of the remaining tallies, and ’nine batsmen were out,..for 176, P.
