REBEKAH LODGE
WAR PARCELS EFFORT The fortnightly meeting of the Gisborne P.ebekah Lodge was well attended, the N.G.. Sister M. O'Connell, being in the chair. A vote of condolence was passed with Mr. Robert Thomson in the loss of his father. The sick list was a heavy one, but several members had returned home now. Two candidates were received. Reviewing the past five months of effort regarding the despatch of parcels overseas, it was reported that 103 parcels had been provided for, packed and posted, several parcels of bandages, pads and slings sent to the Home Guard, one parcel of blankets sent •to England, and another was nearly complete. News was received from Egypt of Sister Iris Somervell, and eight letters came from brothers in receipt of their parcels. The N.G. and secretary were asked to represent the lodge at the Manchester Unity Oddfellows’ dinner on Monday. It was reported that the social committee had worked hard to make the social afternoon on Tuesday a success.
