RETURN FROM CAMP
GISBORNE TERRITORIALS After completing three months’ intensive, training, approximately 70 Territorials who entered camp at the beginning of September, returned to Gisborne late on Saturday night from Waiouru. A special train which left the camp early in the morning carried 200 men back to their homes, mainly in the Hawke’s Bay and Gisborne areas, the draft being in charge of Captain J. Thomson and SecondLieutenant D. F. Muir. Not all the men who entered camp three months ago returned, several having to make up time lost through illness, the chief complaints being measles and mumps. However, all those who returned looked fit and well, while the majority were very sunburnt after spending several particularly hot days on manoeuvres on the hills at the back of the camp. The weather was not always as propitious as this, however, snow being experienced on several occasions.
