U.S. PRICE CONTROL

REVIEW BOARD PLANNED

(Elec. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (Reed. Dec. 1, 10 a.m.) WASHINGTON, Nov. 30.

The House of Representatives approved by 139 votes to 117 an amendment to the Price Control Bill establishing an administrative board of review consisting of five men, with broad powers to overrule the decrees of the price administrator. The vote is subject to reconsideration by the House. Earlier the House rejected by 102 votes to 53 an amendment designed to freeze wages. The House later passed the Price Control Bill by 224 votes to 161, after pulling most of its teeth and overwhelmingly rejecting proposals for wage ceilings or a business licensing system. A coalition of Republicans and Democrats opposed price ceilings on the ground that it would give the Government power to put industry in a straitjacket.
