MATAWHERO AUCTION VALUES MAINTAINED The offering of store sheep at the Matawhero saleyards to-day was the largest for some months, and exceeded 2,000 head, the greatest part of the entry comprising two-tooth wethers. Practically all the sheep were shorn, but. a few of the ewes with lambs at foot retained their wool, and one pen of two-tooth wethers remained unshorn. Most of the wethers were only fair lots, but one -good line .of shorn reached 17s, with medium to fair sorts from 14s 3d to 15s 9d. Values were erratic, but in the main there was little change. One pen of unshorn two-tooth wethers reached 22s 2d. -Several small lots of ewes with lambs met strong market, unshorn ewes with over 100 per cent. of. .good lambs reaching 325, with unshorn ewes with over 100 per cent, of lambs at 18s 9d.. Fewer than 100 fat. sheep came forward lo meet strong competition with little change in values from a fortnight ago. Shorn ewes made from 10s 4d to 11s lOd and shorn wethers from 17s Id to 19s. Prices:— Ewes.—Five. 11s lOd; 11. 11s 9d; 17, 10s 4d; 18, 11s.

The beef cattle entry totalled about 30 daiiV sorts, mainly of plain quality, the best of them selling from £5 to £6 17s, with others down to £3 ss. Pig Values Slump

A slump occurred in pig values, possibly because of the dry weather threatening to affect the millc supplies. The yarding was a fairly large one. Prices ranged:—Weaners, 15s to 16s; slips, 18s to 20s; stores, 25s to 295; porkers, £2 2s 6d to £2 14s.
