GAOL FOR PACIFIST
OBSTRUCTION OF POLICE MEETING JN DOMAIN (Per Preas Association.) AUCKLAND, this day. Arrested.on the Auckland Domain on Sunday afternoon last, John Whiteley Boal, aged 28, a carpenter and Christian pacifist, was charged in the Police Court to-day with wilfully obstructing Police , Superintendent Ward and ..also .with cohducting a meeting 'which had been prohibited by Superintendent Ward under the public safety emergency regulations. The accused pleaded not guilty to both charges, On the first charge, which was of a summary nature, Boal was sentenced to three months’ imprisonment.
He admitted he had received three months' imprisonment for obstructing the police at Wellington in April last and six months in May for attempting to conduct a meeting. On the second charge Boal elected trial by jury and was committed to the Supreme Cdurt for trial.
