A SMALL LIST (Herald Correspondent.) Mr J. Miller. S.M., presided at the monthly sitting of the Wairoa Magistrate’s Court when a small list of ’ cases was presented. Sergeant L. T. Moore prosecuted. Mac Puhata McLean, charged with using insulting . words, was fined £2 and costs. Arthur Thompson Pere was charged with aiding Jack Robin in supplying liquor to himself, Pere. a native, for consumption off licensed premises. He was fined £4 and costs. Sonnv .Mataira was charged with entering licensed premises during the currency of a prohibition order, and with procuring liquor. On the first charge he was fined £3, and on the second he was convicted and discharged. For cycling on the fdotpath, Claude Duiey was fined 10s. Sergeant Moore said that these offences were prevalent in Wairoa. j Reginald Hedley Grice was charged on two counts with disobedience of a maintenance order in respect to his wife and children, the; arrears totalling £ll4 14s 6d. He was sentenced to three months’ imprisonment on each charge. In the Children’s Court six charges of theft and one of mischief were preferred against one boy and three > charges of theft and one of mischief ! against another boy. Each was com- ; mitted to the care of the Child Wel- \ fare Department, -and the father was ! ordered to make restitution of £2 t 17s Gd. Three boys were charged 3 with offences regarding bicycles.
