£l5O FROM CUP SALE
CROMWELL PERIOD PIECE MR. A. M. WHITE’S GIFT After protracted negotiations, the East Coast Provincial Patriotic Council has disposed of a handsome silver loving-cup presented by Mr. A. M. White, Titoki, Ngataua, to a Wellington collector for the sum of £l5O. The proceeds of the sale will benefit, the funds of the council. The cup has been in the possession of Mr. White’s family for a considerable time, and was identified by a Wellington expert as an example of the silversmith’s art of the Cromwellian period, some 300 years ago. The piece was in an excellent state of preservation, and the design was a highly interesting one as reflecting the influence of its period. The buyer was Mr. F. Cockroft, Wellington, a well-known collector.
